This level builds on the Foundation level to expand learners’ vocabulary and sentence structures for simple business and everyday interactions. Learners will practice short dialogues, questions, and responses, and gain an introduction to basic workplace expressions and Chinese business etiquette.

- The course series is designed as a Business Mandarin proficiency programme, with Mandarin serving as the primary medium of instruction.
- English may be used occasionally to facilitate comprehension when necessary.
- As learners progress to higher levels, the use of English will be progressively reduced.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT
- Min. Age: 16 years old
- GCE O-Level English (minimum Grade C6/pass) or equivalent.
- All learners are required to take SCCIOB’s placement test.
- The placement test will be used to determine the most appropriate entry level within the course series.
- Learners with no prior background in Mandarin may begin directly at the Foundation level.
- Hanyu pinyin input method (汉语拼音输入法) using one’s personal computer (PC) web-browser
CERTIFICATION
Upon completion of the course series, learners are required to take the Business Chinese Test (BCT). After the examination, each participant will receive an official BCT score report, which serves as a formal certification of Business Chinese proficiency and is valid for two years.
