Module Content
The learning objectives of the course are to equip learners with a set of essential skills and thematic knowledge required for effective tourist guiding. Learners are to attain the 7 compulsory skills:
- Storytelling and Public Speaking
- Tour Curation and Commentary
- Religious and Cultural Sensitivities
- Tour and Safety Protocols
- Handling Difficult or Unique Tourists
- Think on your Feet (Quick Decision-Making), and
- e-Marketing.
Learners are also to attain the following key themes:
- Pre-colonial and Colonial History
- Post-Independence History and Development of Singapore
- Culture, Faith, Attire, and Cuisine
- Basics of Geographic, Economic, and Demographic Data of Singapore
- Heritage Highlights, and
- City Highlights.
These competencies are delivered through a dynamic blend of classroom training and on-the-ground field experiences, offering flexibility in the learning process. At the end of the course, the learners are to fulfil and pass all assessments and obtain the STB Tourist Guide license.
