This level is designed for learners with no prior knowledge of Chinese, focusing on building a solid foundation in the language. Learners will develop essential skills in pronunciation, basic Chinese character writing, and simple grammar structures. The course emphasizes practical exercises to enable learners to understand and form basic sentences, laying the groundwork for future progression in Business Chinese.

- The course series is designed as a Business Mandarin proficiency programme, with Mandarin serving as the primary medium of instruction.
- English may be used occasionally to facilitate comprehension when necessary.
- As learners progress to higher levels, the use of English will be progressively reduced.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT
- All learners are required to take SCCIOB’s placement test.
- The placement test will be used to determine the most appropriate entry level within the course series.
- Learners with no prior background in Mandarin may begin directly at the Foundation level.
- Hanyu pinyin input method (汉语拼音输入法) using one’s personal computer (PC) web-browser
CERTIFICATION
Participants who successfully complete the course and BCT test will receive a Certificate in International Business Mandarin.
